Women living with disability in West Nile region have petitioned men in the region of sexual harassments as they report of suffering   of  sexual harassment abuses by men in the area. This was revealed to dailywestnile.info During a press briefing at the Office of Strategic in the horn of African Women [SIHA] on Wednesday 17th/10/2022, the legal officer of Functional integration of  and date   administration office of international federation of women lawyers [FIDA], Rehema Manila  revealed that they have registered  over twenty cases of sexual harassment against women in three months.

However, while addressing the media presser, Angela Apolot one of the victims testified that it is true she was sexually abused by the former husband who dumped and married another able woman. Angela based on her testimony confirms that she was send out of the married home that she had built with her by then husband. She further narrates of how the community and the family of the husband stigmatized her to the point of influencing her to be forcefully divorced in a brutal manner as they husband claimed to have sympathized with her. Apolot stands out as one of the many who surfer silently in the region. Cue to listen to her story.

Mercy Monica Ocotoko one of the women leaving with disability in the area noted that most  of the men just want to use them and dump after hence an inhumane act.

As Apollot's story presents a 'narrative of the sexual harassments faced by the women living with disability in the region, Mercy Maneno the executive director of special action for Life transformation [SALT] says that they have also puts up a narrative of how they have been receiving a lot of such cases of abuse against women leaving with disability in their office. She therefore points to hope as the Organization (SLAT) strives to loop in advocacy plans as she speaks to dailywestnile.info.

Key to note, according to the  report released by persons of disability situation profiling study which was done on September 2022 in the three districts of west Nile that comprises of ; Arua city, Terego and Yumbe ,there are 4779 people leaving with disability in Arua city ,2448 [51 percent ] are female   and 2331[ 49 percent]are male.
