Entebbe, Uganda – March 21, 2025 — Uganda Airlines has announced a significant milestone in its growth journey, revealing plans to commence direct flights between Entebbe International Airport and London Gatwick Airport starting May 18, 2025. 

This strategic move marks the national carrier’s first venture into the European market and revives a direct air link between Uganda and the United Kingdom after nearly ten years.The new route is anticipated to play a pivotal role in boosting Uganda's international connectivity, fostering stronger ties in business, tourism, and trade between Uganda and Europe. 

According to Uganda Airlines officials, the service will offer Ugandan travelers and international visitors a more convenient and efficient travel option, eliminating the need for long layovers or multiple connections.Speaking at the official announcement event, Uganda Airlines CEO, Jennifer Bamuturaki, described the development as a "historic achievement" for the airline and the country. 

“Launching direct flights to London Gatwick is more than just a route expansion. It symbolizes Uganda’s re-entry into the European aviation scene and our commitment to providing world-class service while supporting Uganda’s economic growth,” Bamuturaki stated.

The airline plans to operate the route using its modern Airbus A330-800neo aircraft, ensuring comfort and efficiency for both passengers and cargo. Industry analysts predict the new connection will encourage increased tourism to Uganda
