Police and Authorities in Nakapiripirit District have arrested three individuals in connection with the vandalism and theft of essential materials from the Government Holding and Quarantine Production Center at Kagata Production Village.

The suspects, identified as Angela Francis (22), Lomokol Jeremiah (18), and Losike Paul (15), were caught with stolen items, including barbed wire, dip chain links, dipsticks, and jerrycans.

Their arrest followed an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Internal Security Organization (ISO) in collaboration with local leaders and the Namalu Police Station.

According to police reports, the vandalism took place on January 29, 2025, when the trio allegedly broke into the facility, causing extensive damage.

Water pipes, tanks, and windows were among the items destroyed, raising concerns about the security and maintenance of the quarantine center, which serves as a critical government facility.

Acting on intelligence, security personnel and local leaders tracked the suspects, leading to a dramatic chase when they were spotted transporting stolen materials on a motorcycle.

The three were later apprehended at a scrap buyer’s residence, where stolen barbed wire and other metallic items were recovered.

The suspects are currently in custody at Namalu Police Station as investigations continue. Police are working to establish whether they were acting alone or if a larger network of scrap dealers is involved in the theft and vandalism of government property.

ACP Kituuma Rusoke, who confirmed the arrests, emphasized the need for vigilance and community cooperation in safeguarding public assets.

“Theft and vandalism of government projects affect service delivery and must be treated with the seriousness they deserve. We urge residents to report any suspicious activities,” he stated.

This incident has raised concerns over the security of government infrastructure in the region, particularly in remote areas. Residents and local authorities are calling for stricter monitoring and reinforcement of security at key installations to prevent further occurrences.

More updates will be provided as investigations unfold.
