Khartoum, March 26, 2025 – The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have secured Khartoum International Airport and taken control of key military installations in the capital, military sources confirmed.

According to Major General Abdul Rahman Al-Bilawi, the Khartoum Operations Commander, SAF successfully regained control of the airport, a strategic location that had been the site of intense clashes. Footage circulating online shows Sudanese forces advancing on the Najoumi Base and the Air Defense Command headquarters, both of which have now been captured.

"The airport is fully under the control of our forces. We have also neutralized threats in surrounding areas," Al-Bilawi stated.

The latest developments mark a significant shift in the ongoing power struggle between the SAF and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group that has been engaged in a prolonged conflict with the army. Control of the airport is seen as a major tactical victory, potentially opening supply routes for military operations and humanitarian aid.

Khartoum has remained a battleground since hostilities erupted last year, with both factions vying for control of key infrastructure. Residents have reported sporadic gunfire and heavy bombardment in various parts of the city, raising concerns about civilian casualties.

International organizations have called for a ceasefire and renewed peace talks to end the crisis that has displaced millions and led to a humanitarian catastrophe. However, with the SAF gaining ground, the conflict appears far from over.

Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
