Juba, April 3, 2025 – South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit and Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting regional peace and stability.

During a high-level meeting in Juba, the two leaders discussed key political and security developments affecting South Sudan and the wider East African region. The discussions underscored the importance of enhanced cooperation between the two neighboring nations.

South Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ramadan Mohammed Abdallah Goc, emphasized that the meeting aimed at reinforcing diplomatic ties between Juba and Kampala. He highlighted that both leaders explored avenues for deeper collaboration across multiple sectors, including trade, security, and infrastructure development.


Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Cooperation, John Mulimba, noted that the dialogue focused on ensuring sustained peace and stability in both countries and the broader region. He reiterated Uganda’s commitment to working alongside South Sudan in addressing security challenges and fostering economic growth.

Officials from both governments indicated that the meeting is expected to pave the way for strategic initiatives that will bolster stability and development in the region. The discussions come at a critical time as both nations seek to enhance diplomatic efforts and solidify their roles in promoting regional harmony.
