Koboko District, Uganda – At least 85 refugees from South Sudan have sought asylum in Uganda, fleeing the escalating violence in their home country. The group, consisting mainly of women and children, arrived in Koboko district on Thursday, 27th March 2025, crossing into Uganda through the Busia border town.

The ongoing insurgency in South Sudan has forced many to leave their homes in search of safety. Authorities in Koboko district are actively registering the new arrivals, with more refugees expected in the coming days. Uganda continues to provide refuge and support to those fleeing the conflict, offering essential services to ensure their safety during these difficult times.

Local officials are closely monitoring the situation as the refugee influx grows, with the West Nile region expected to see further arrivals in the near future. The Ugandan government and humanitarian organizations are working together to provide assistance to the refugees, including shelter, food, and medical care, as they seek refuge from the violence in South Sudan.
