Students of Maracha Secondary School have staged a strike today, protesting against poor living and studying conditions within the institution.
The learners cite lack of water, frequent power outages, inadequate food supply, and dissatisfaction with a geography teacher as their main grievances.
Eyewitnesses report that the students refused to attend classes, with some roaming around the school compound while others left for nearby trading centers such as Ovujo and Nyoro.A student who spoke on condition of anonymity expressed frustration, saying,
"We have been enduring these challenges for a long time, but no action has been taken. We need clean water, electricity for our studies, and better meals."
As of now, school authorities have yet to issue an official statement, and efforts to restore order are ongoing. The situation remains tense, with students insisting they will not return to class until their demands are met.More updates to follow.
