Madi Okollo, Uganda – The Madi Okollo District Water Officer, Eric Arumadri, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the age of 37. He was laid to rest on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Ewamva cell in Arua City. According to the postmortem report, Arumadri succumbed to bleeding peptic ulcers.
Arumadri joined the Madi Okollo District Local Government in June 2022, where he served as the Water Officer and later took on the role of Acting District Water Officer.
Career and Achievements
Throughout his career, Arumadri worked with various organizations, including Water Mission, Acode, Madi and West Nile diocese, and Tombura diocese in South Sudan. His contributions to water access in Madi Okollo District were significant, with key projects such as:
Feacal Treatment Sludge Plant – Established in Rigbo sub-county to manage waste treatment.
Kati Piped Water Scheme – A project aimed at providing clean and safe water to the community.
Rhino Camp Piped Water Scheme – Another milestone in improving water accessibility.
Nyagak Water Scheme – Designed to enhance water supply coverage in the district.
Tributes and Recognition
During his burial, family, friends, and colleagues paid tribute to Arumadri’s dedication to his work and community.
The District Chairperson, Drabe Ismail, praised his contributions to water accessibility and development.
“He was a developmental, open-minded, hardworking, and God-fearing individual who was committed to improving lives through his work,” Drabe said.
Arumadri’s untimely passing leaves a gap in the water and sanitation sector in Madi Okollo. His legacy, however, lives on in the lives of the many communities he impacted with his work.
