The Ministry of Education and Sports (MOES) has also backed UNEB’s clarification, calling for caution when consuming information from unverified sources.
A spokesperson for the ministry remarked,
“Misinformation about examination results causes unnecessary anxiety among candidates and their families. We appeal to the public to rely on official communication from UNEB and the Ministry of Education.”
In recent years, the spread of fake news through social media has posed significant challenges, particularly in education. Analysts say the trend can erode trust in official communication and lead to panic among students and parents.
Parents and teachers in West Nile have voiced their concerns about the rumors.
Mr. Patrick Anguyo, a teacher in Arua City, said, “We were all excited, thinking results were coming out today. This misinformation has disappointed many people. We hope UNEB will announce the official release date soon.”
UNEB has reiterated its commitment to transparency in the release of examination results. The board is known for maintaining strict standards in its operations, ensuring fairness and accuracy in processing results.
The public is advised to follow UNEB’s verified social media platforms and website for updates. The fake news incident serves as a reminder to critically assess information and rely on trusted sources.
