Lugogo, Kampala – April 19, 2025
All roads lead to Millennium Park Lugogo as final preparations are in high gear for the 9th Edition of the highly anticipated Alur Cultural Festival, scheduled to take place tomorrow, April 20th.
Organizers say the festival, which has grown to become one of the most celebrated cultural showcases in Uganda, will bring together thousands of people from the Alur community and beyond to celebrate their rich heritage, traditions, and unity under the theme "Embracing Our Culture, Empowering Our Future."
Crews were seen putting final touches on the venue earlier today—decorating stages, setting up traditional exhibition stalls, and ensuring all logistics are in place for what promises to be a vibrant display of Alur music, dance, food, attire, and crafts. Security and health measures have also been heightened to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
"We are ready. Everything is set, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to this great celebration of identity and pride," said one of the lead organizers. "The Alur Cultural Festival is not just for the Alur people; it's a national event that promotes cultural diversity and tourism."
The event is expected to attract dignitaries, cultural leaders, government officials, and local celebrities. Highlights will include traditional wrestling (Ndiku), storytelling sessions, live performances by Alur artists, and a showcase of ancient artifacts and customs.
This year’s edition also features a special youth forum and cultural dialogue, aiming to engage young people in preserving and promoting cultural values in the modern age.
Gates open at 8 AM, and entry is free for all. Organizers are encouraging everyone to wear traditional attire and come with an open heart to learn, celebrate, and connect.
