Arua City – The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) West Nile region has officially endorsed Rt. Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the party’s general secretary, as its presidential flag bearer for the 2026 general elections.
The endorsement was announced during a press conference held on Friday at Coco Palm Hotel in Arua City, where party leaders and supporters gathered to express their confidence in Mafabi’s leadership and vision for the country.
Muzaid Khemis, the mayor of Arua City Central Division and the FDC regional secretary, highlighted Mafabi’s strong track record and commitment to balanced regional development. He noted that the decision to back Mafabi was informed by his dedication to addressing pressing national issues such as medical infrastructure, road construction, educational improvement, poverty eradication, and economic revitalization.
“Our party believes in competent and visionary leadership,” said Khemis, who is also an aspiring Member of Parliament on the FDC ticket. “Hon. Mafabi has consistently demonstrated the capacity to deliver change and steer Uganda towards meaningful progress.”
Adding her voice to the call for change, the FDC Youth Chairperson for Arua City emphasized the urgent challenges facing young people, particularly high unemployment and exploitation. She pledged that the youth wing will mobilize and stand firmly behind Mafabi’s candidacy.
“We see in him a leader who listens and understands the struggles of young Ugandans,” she said. “Our hope for a better tomorrow lies in choosing leaders who are ready to act.”
The endorsement of Mafabi comes at a critical time as Uganda’s political atmosphere heats up in anticipation of the 2026 polls. The move signals FDC’s readiness to present a united front and mobilize grassroots support across the country.
With the elections drawing nearer, the party has called on Ugandans to take an active role in shaping the nation’s future by electing capable and trustworthy leaders.
