As the deadline of February 10, 2025, approaches, the Electoral Commission (EC) reports significant progress in the ongoing General Update of the National Voters’ Register.
With just four days remaining, EC spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi assures the public that ample time remains for eligible individuals to register or update their voting information, including changing their voting locations.Tuate exercise, which commenced on January 20, 2025, is being conducted daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM at designated registration centers nationwide.
This iative aims to register Ugandan citizens aged 18 and above who have not yet been added to the voters' register, enable registered voters to transfer to new polling stations, and allow for verification and updating of existing voter details.
Mucunguzi emphasizes that the EC has no plans to extend the registration period beyond February 10. He urges all eligible Ugandans, eially students who have recently turned 18, to take advantage of this opportunity before returning to school.
The EC calls upon all stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organizations, and citizens, to actively engage ihprocess to ensure a comprehensive and accurate voters' register ahead of the 2025/2026 General Elections.
