Northern Uganda’s outspoken musician and presidential adviser, Lucky Bosmic Otim, has sent a fiery message to the government of Uganda, accusing artists Bebe Cool and Eddy Kenzo of failing to represent the interests of creatives, particularly in Kampala, and now attempting to exploit Northern Uganda. In a strongly worded statement, Bosmic labeled the two musicians as “scammers” and “thieves,” accusing them of misleading the government about their influence and contributions to the creative industry. He claimed that despite being given numerous opportunities and resources to mobilize for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government in Kampala, the pair have consistently failed to deliver.
“Bebe Cool and Eddy Kenzo have failed the government in Kampala.
They are now trying to confuse people in Northern Uganda as if they have value here. But we know them for what they are — scammers,” Bosmic stated. He criticized the recently formed Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), headed by Eddy Kenzo, accusing it of being a conduit for misappropriating funds meant for the development of the music and creative sector.
“The Federation of Eddy Kenzo is nothing but a bunch of thieves robbing our music industry. If the government truly wants to help creatives in Northern Uganda, let them work with us directly — not through those people,” Bosmic emphasized.
Bosmic’s remarks come amid increasing concerns from Northern Uganda artists who feel sidelined in national-level decisions affecting the creative industry. He urged President Museveni and the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development to establish direct links with grassroots creatives instead of relying on Kampala-based intermediaries.
The statement is likely to stir fresh debate about regional inclusion in the creative economy and the role of federations in representing the interests of artists across the country. As of now, neither Bebe Cool nor Eddy Kenzo has responded publicly to Bosmic Otim’s allegations.
