National Teachers College Muni, Arua — In a remarkable display of creativity and innovation, the girls from Arua Secondary School emerged victorious in the regional Girls in ICT Hackathon, held at National Teachers College (NTC) Muni. The event, which brought together young ladies from various schools across the region, was aimed at empowering girls in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The hackathon, themed around #CreativeProblemSolving, #CriticalThinking, and #InnovativeSolutions, challenged participants to work in teams to develop tech-based solutions for real-world problems. The competition encouraged the use of digital tools to address social, economic, and educational challenges facing their communities.
Arua SS impressed the judges with their outstanding presentation and practical solution, setting themselves apart from a competitive field of talented young innovators.
This event is one of many build-up activities leading to the International Girls in ICT Day, celebrated globally on April 24. It aligns with the global movement to promote digital inclusion and gender equality in technology, under the message #LeavingNoOneBehind.
Organizers commended all the participants for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and passion for technology, and urged schools to continue nurturing digital skills among girls to bridge the gender gap in ICT.
The hackathon not only provided a platform for learning but also inspired participants to envision careers in STEM fields and digital innovation.
