Arua City – Arua Central Division has recorded a remarkable milestone in local revenue collection, surpassing its annual target with a total of UGX 4 billion collected, representing a 10% surplus over the planned UGX 3.7 billion.
This performance comes under the current 2024/2025 financial year, where the division’s entire budget also stands at UGX 4 billion, making the achievement a significant boost to its financial planning and service delivery.
The Division Town Clerk, Maliki Drakuma, attributed the success to regular engagements with taxpayers and effective implementation of planned development projects, which he said has improved public trust and compliance.
“We maintained consistent dialogue with our business community and other local revenue sources, ensuring transparency and accountability in how we use the resources. This built confidence among taxpayers,” Drakuma said.
He added that funds raised have been directed toward priority areas including road maintenance, waste management, and support to education and health sectors within the division.
The revenue surplus now places Arua Central Division among the top-performing urban authorities in West Nile, and officials say it sets the tone for even greater achievements in subsequent financial years.
Drakuma emphasized the importance of sustaining the momentum by continuing community engagement and strict adherence to financial discipline in public service delivery.
