Arua City – The political atmosphere in Arua City is heating up as former Makerere University Guild President, Alionzi Lawrence — popularly known as "Dangote" — officially throws his hat into the ring for the 2026 Lord Mayoral race.
Alionzi, a youthful and charismatic leader known for his bold ideas and people-centered leadership during his tenure as the 88th Guild President of Makerere University, made the announcement in a passionate address, calling for a "bold and honest conversation" about the future of Arua City.
“It’s time for a new chapter. 

Arua City deserves visionary leadership — leadership that listens, acts with integrity, and puts the people first,” said Alionzi.

 “Our city has immense potential, and with the right policies, we can unlock opportunities for our youth, improve service delivery, and create a vibrant, inclusive economy.”
