Arua City, April 28, 2025 — In a significant milestone for electoral administration in the West Nile sub-region, the Electoral Commission has officially commissioned the newly constructed West Nile Regional Electoral Offices and Stores in Arua City.

The state-of-the-art facility will serve 12 districts and 1 city, enhancing the delivery of essential electoral services and bringing them closer to citizens across the region.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, officials from the Electoral Commission emphasized that the new headquarters are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity, improve operational efficiency, and support democratic processes throughout West Nile.

The new offices are expected to streamline voter registration, electoral logistics, and the coordination of election activities across the districts, providing a centralized hub for improved service delivery.

Local leaders and stakeholders welcomed the development, describing it as a major boost for electoral integrity and citizen participation in the region. They noted that having a regional office in Arua City will ease access to electoral services and reduce the need for long travels to Kampala for administrative matters.

The commissioning of the offices signals a commitment by the Electoral Commission to decentralize its operations and to promote transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in Uganda’s electoral process.

The 12 districts and 1 city set to benefit from the new regional headquarters include Arua District, Maracha, Koboko, Yumbe, Moyo, Obongi, Adjumani, Zombo, Nebbi, Pakwach, Terego, Madi-Okollo, and Arua City.

The Electoral Commission reiterated its readiness to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that the West Nile region continues to witness free, fair, and credible elections.
