The 48th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup will climax on Sunday 12th June 2022 at Booma Grounds in Masindi and UPL reigning champions Vipers Sports Club will play host, Eastern region giants BUL FC.
At the pre-match press briefing held at FUFA House Mengo on Thursday yesterday, the BUL FC tactician, Alex Isabirye Musongola is not sure whether they will win or lose to the angry venoms but he is sure, they will find the Kitende boys when they are well prepared compared to last year’s 8-1 emblasing defeat against the same side on final.
“Last year, we were not prepared enough to play Vipers SC and that is why we lost. This time we are ready for the game and I am not saying we are going to win or lose the game but we are learning how to compete. We are tied of participating and so we want to also make history.” said Isabirye
“I have no pressure, I know anything can happen on Sunday, so we are ready for the game.” he revealed.
On representing Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup.
“If we win the Cup we shall represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup. I am a believer and I know we are going to win on Sunday and we shall represent the nation on the continent.” Said Isabirye
If he guides the team to the podium, Isabirye will become the first BUL tactician to win a silverware for the money bags in the history.
The Jinja based side beat Region league side Booma on aggregate 6-1 in the semifinal to set up a final against Vipers in a repeat of last year’s final.
Vipers’ goalkeeping coach, Ibrahim Mugisha who represented Roberto Oliviera also believes that they will not face the same BUL like that of last season.
“I don’t think it will be the same as last year. I congratulate coach Alex Isabirye for reaching back to back finals.” It’s not going to be an easy final according to the environment, Stadium and I expected a tough match which we will hopefully win.” Said Mugisha
FIFA referee William Oloya will be in the centre as Vipers take on BUL in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final.
