Express vs Gaddafi
The anticipated return to action of former Express coach, Wasswa Bbosa, at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku has been pushed ahead by some more hours after the Red Eagles match with Gaddafi was washed out on Tuesday.
An afternoon downpour rendered the surface at Wankulukuku unplayable, forcing StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) authorities to call off the match.
“The SUPL Match # 23 Express FC Vs Gaddafi FC that was scheduled to be played today, Tuesday, 18th October 2022 at Muteesa II Stadium-Wankulukuku,” reads in part a communication from the league Secretariat.“… failed to kickoff due to heavy rains.
Accordingly the above match has been rescheduled to tomorrow, Wednesday 19th, October 2022 at 2:00PM, at Muteesa II Stadium-Wankulukuku. ”Express were beaten 2-0 by rivals SC Villa last weekend and will have to be at their clinical best to overcome Gaddafi, who are also eager to pick their first three points.
Coach James Odoch, who replaced Bbosa at Express, is aware that his former boss and Gaddafi have a squad comprising of familiar faces. “Most of the players (at Gaddafi) were from Express, including the coach,” Odoch told Express website, “so it turns out to be a derby as well.
“We shall plan very well to see that we win tomorrow’s game,” he added. Like Express FC, Gaddafi were also beaten 2-0 by Villa and could only manage a draw at home to Onduparaka in their second game.
Failure to pick points from Wankulukuku will leave Bbosa and his staff under immense pressure given the kind of business they did in the transfer window.
