The StarTimes Uganda premier seasons Awards were last held in 2016/17 when then KCCA FC striker Geoffrey Sserunkuma was crowned the best player of the season. Uganda Premier League secretariat has set June 16th 2022 as the tentative dates for the 2021/22 Season Awards.
The Categories for the Pilsner Lager Uganda Premier League Season Awards
1. Player of the Season
2. Top Goal scorer of the season
3. Most Assists of the season
4. Midfielder of the season
5. Defender of the season
6. Goalkeeper of the season
7. Coach of the season
8. Young Player of the season
9. Players’ player of the season
10. Coaches’ Player of the season
11. Fair Play Team of the season
12. UPL Best XI
13. Platinum Award
The Uganda Premier League awards were launched in January 2022, the Pilsner sponsored awards will be recognising the excellency for the just concluded 2021/22 season.
Peter Kibazo, The Uganda Premier League board member said that the set dates may change due to logistical reasons and pushed few days ahead
The biggest award is the Player of the season which will go to the Best Player of the 2021/22 season, Uganda Premier League Finest XI (Best Eleven of the season) and Platinum Award are the other categories.
Best Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder and Coach of the season will be recognised.
Best young player, Top scorer (player with most goals), Most Assists, Fair Play team, Players’ Player (voted for by players), Coaches’ Player (voted by coaches).
The categories that will involve fan involvement will be as follows-
The Public will nominate their best selection, the panel will choose three players per category from the fans selection, then the public and other stakeholders will vote on the three nominees before the winner is announced on the Technical Panel.
The League Secretariat will release a voting link for the fans to use and the awarding ceremony will be held at Kati Kati Gardens in Lugogo.
