Njeru - March 18, 2025

BUL FC emphatically booked their place in the quarterfinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after a dominant 7-0 victory over West Nile regional league outfit TOTAL FC in a one-sided Round of 16 clash held at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.

The Eastern Giants, as BUL FC are fondly known, displayed class and precision throughout the encounter, underlining their credentials as serious contenders for this year’s title. Despite missing their first-choice goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa, who is currently on international duty with the Uganda Cranes in Egypt, John Okurut stepped up impressively, keeping a clean sheet.

The scoring spree began in the 27th minute when Jeromy Kirya confidently converted from the penalty spot after Karim Ndugwa was brought down inside the box. Just three minutes later, BUL doubled their lead. Fredrick Ngalo delivered a pinpoint pass that found Ndugwa, who made no mistake, calmly slotting the ball past TOTAL FC's helpless goalkeeper.

The first half ended 2-0 in favor of BUL, but the Eastern Giants were far from done. Immediately after the break, Karim Ndugwa completed his brace in the 47th minute, capitalizing on an assist from Isaac Wagoina to extend the lead to 3-0.

TOTAL FC struggled to cope with BUL’s relentless attacks, and their defensive frailties were further exposed in the 75th minute when Lawrence Tezikya added a fourth goal. BUL’s hunger for more goals showed no signs of slowing down, as Isaac Wagoina netted the fifth in the 81st minute, before Reagan Kalyowa joined the party just two minutes later, making it six.

Wagoina then sealed a memorable evening for himself and the BUL faithful by completing his brace in the 89th minute, putting the icing on the cake with BUL's seventh goal of the day.

The comprehensive victory sees BUL join Kitara FC, Police FC, SC Villa, and KCCA FC, who have all secured their slots in the last eight of Uganda’s prestigious knockout competition.

Attention now shifts to Wednesday, March 19, when the remaining three quarterfinal spots will be decided. UPDF will travel to Ntungamo to face Kaaro Karungi, URA will host Kataka at Nakivubo Stadium, and Vipers SC will take on Blacks Power under the Kitende floodlights.

BUL FC’s commanding performance sends a clear message to their rivals and fans alike—they are determined to go all the way in this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup.
