Buhimba United Saints continued their impressive surge towards promotion to the Uganda Premier League with a statement 3-0 victory over Onduparaka FC at the Aba Bet Green Light Stadium in Arua on Sunday.

The visitors, displaying confidence and tactical superiority, dismantled their West Nile opponents with clinical finishing and resolute defending.

The victory not only solidifies Buhimba’s status as genuine promotion contenders but also deals a significant blow to Onduparaka’s fading hopes of returning to the top tier.

Buhimba wasted no time in asserting their authority on the game, breaking the deadlock within the opening two minutes.

Midfield maestro Edson Agondeza pounced on a defensive lapse, coolly slotting home past the Onduparaka goalkeeper to silence the home crowd.

The early setback rattled the hosts, who struggled to find their rhythm against a well-organized Buhimba side.

Despite some flashes of attacking intent from Onduparaka, Buhimba’s defensive line remained steadfast, denying the home team any clear-cut chances.January signing John Wesley Kisakye doubled Buhimba’s advantage in the 35th minute, showcasing his composure in front of goal.

The former Booma FC forward latched onto a well-timed through ball, beat his marker, and calmly placed his shot beyond the reach of Onduparaka’s keeper for his first goal since joining the club. With a commanding 2-0 lead at halftime, Buhimba controlled the tempo in the second half, frustrating their opponents with disciplined defensive play and quick counterattacks.

As Onduparaka desperately pushed forward in search of a goal, they left spaces open at the back, and Buhimba ruthlessly exploited them. In stoppage time, Congolese forward Luca Mola delivered the final blow, scoring a well-taken goal to seal an emphatic 3-0 win for the visitors.

The result marks Buhimba’s eighth victory of the season, lifting them to third place on the FUFA Big League table with 29 points, just two behind leaders Blacks Power (31) and one adrift of second-placed Gaddafi FC (30).

With their confidence soaring, Buhimba have firmly positioned themselves as serious contenders for automatic promotion to the Uganda Premier League.

For Onduparaka, the defeat was another bitter pill to swallow. Once a formidable force in Ugandan football, the club now finds itself struggling to regain its former glory.

The loss sees them drop to 7th place with 23 points from 16 matches, leaving their promotion hopes hanging by a thread. The West Nile outfit has now gone several games without a win, and the pressure continues to mount on the players and technical team. With the race for promotion intensifying, Onduparaka will need a swift turnaround in form if they are to keep their slim hopes alive.

Buhimba United Saints will now shift their focus to their upcoming fixtures, eager to maintain their winning momentum. With just a few points separating them from the top, every game will be crucial in their quest for promotion.

Meanwhile, Onduparaka must regroup and find a way to bounce back quickly. With time running out in the season, they need to rediscover their winning formula to avoid slipping further down the table.

As the FUFA Big League season approaches its climax, the battle for promotion remains fierce, with Buhimba United Saints proving they are more than ready to fight for a spot in the Uganda Premier League.
